Counseling: Clinical Assistant Professor. The Counseling and Wellness Center at the University of Florida invites applications for a clinical professional staff position, which involves general qualifications and responsibilities for counseling center clinicians at either the entry or advanced level with significant experience in outreach/consultation with diverse populations. The successful candidate will coordinate our ASPIRE program and team which aims to foster retention, mentoring, and time-to-degree graduation of African/Black American, Hispanic/Latino(a) American and First Generation students at the University of Florida. The ASPIRE team is made up of a multicultural group of clinicians with diverse expertise. In addition to the direct student services, the ASPIRE team provides consultation and support to organizations and programs that promote recruitment and retention of African/Black American, Hispanic/Latino(a) American and First Generation students. Job Description: 1) Provide triage, intake, individual/couples/group counseling, and crisis intervention with students; 2) Provide leadership for the ASPIRE program which works as an outreach and consultation effort with First Generation college students and African/Black American, Hispanic/Latino(a) American students; 3) Participate in Counseling and Wellness Center's on-going process of infusing multicultural awareness into campus structures and programs; 4) Be able to work easily and smoothly with a wide variety of groups on campus to include students and student organizations as well as administration and faculty. Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate should (1) hold a doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology (APA accredited) or counseling (CACREP accredited) program; (2) be licensed or license eligible in the state of Florida as a psychologist or mental health counselor; (3) have experience working in university counseling center or student mental health settings; (4) have experience working collaboratively with other units within the Division of Student Affairs as well as other campus agencies and academic units; and (5) have experience working with culturally diverse populations. Preferred Qualifications of the successful candidate include: (1) demonstrated experience as a generalist, (2) experience working with first generation college students and ethnically diverse students, (3) strong commitment to outreach and consultation, (4) enthusiasm for group work, (5) demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical situations and to coordinate these efforts as a part of a multidisciplinary team, (6) energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging workload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships, (7) collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust towards colleagues, (8) demonstrated sensitivity to multicultural issues and proven ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups, and (9) self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, excellent oral and written communication skills.
